In 2006, an estimated 45.1% of the Tasmanian population aged 18 or more knew a State, Federal or local government representative or employee they felt comfortable contacting for information or advice.

The ease with which people are able to get information is one indicator of how open and accessible our government is

Explanation of measure

The measure is an estimate derived from the General Social Survey. It is the estimate of the proportion of the Tasmanian population aged 18 or more who personally knew a State, Federal or local government representative or employee they felt comfortable contacting for information or advice. This draft benchmark is currently being developed by the Progress Board. Draft targets have been established and recommendations to complete the benchmark will be put to Parliament for approval later this year.
