Baseline Measurement


An estimated 62% of Tasmanians aged 18-24 had been actively involved in a social group, a civic group or a community support group at sometime during a twelve month period ending in 2006.

Why do we use this Measure?

If the proportion of young people who participate in community groups increases, it should reflect a greater input into the community and into decision-making processes

Explanation of measure

This draft benchmark is currently being developed by the Progress Board. Draft targets have been established and recommendations to complete the benchmark will be put to Parliament for approval later this year. The measure is an estimate from the General Social Survey. It is an estimate of the proportion of Tasmanians aged 18-24 who reported that they were actively involved in a social group, a civic group or a community support group. This draft benchmark is currently being developed by the Progress Board. Draft targets have been established and recommendations to complete the benchmark will be put to Parliament for approval later this year.
