Baseline Measurement


In the year 2000, an estimated 25% of Tasmanian households had an internet connection. This compared with a national rate of 32%.

Access to the Internet may improve Tasmanians’ links to each other and the rest of the world.

Explanation of measure

The measure is based on estimates from ABS household surveys. It is the estimate of the proportion of all Tasmanian households that have an internet connection compared with the national rate.
