Why do we use this Measure?

There is strong evidence of a protective effect of certain vegetables and fruits against a range of health related conditions. A lifetime habit of eating adequate amounts of fruit and vegetables every day can help prevent coronary heart disease, constipation, some forms of cancer, overweight and obesity, reduce blood pressure and blood cholesterol levels and improve control of diabetes. Health authorities recommend you eat at least 2 serves of fruit and 5 serves of vegetables a day.
