Why do we use this Measure?

The Kindergarten Development Check is an indicator of early childhood development and an early-warning system for individually focused primary education services

Explanation of measure

The Kindergarten Development Check (KDC) is designed to assist teachers in the early identification of any Kindergarten student who is at risk of not achieving expected developmental outcomes and may require a specific intervention program and/or support from specific support personnel. A set of 21 identified critical core markers determines whether a student is deemed at risk of not achieving expected developmental outcomes. The measure is the proportion of students undergoing the check who achieve all 21 markers
