In the year ending 30 June 2004, businesses engaged along the food production chain added $2,091 million in value to the Tasmanian economy.

Why do we use this Measure?

Employment in rural areas, as well as Tasmania’s economy and reputation for high-quality food products, should be enhanced by quality processing and packaging occurring here rather than interstate or overseas

The measure is an estimate of the value added in Tasmania of businesses engaged along the food production chain.
