Explanation of measure

The measure is expenditure on research and development performed in Tasmania by organisations within the Business, Government, Private non-profit and Higher education sectors in a year ending on the 30th June. The expenditure is presented as a percentage of the Gross State product for the year. The R&D to GSP proportion is also calculated for the other States and the Tasmanian performance ranked.
