During the year 1998, there were 6,819 separations of hospital inpatients for whom the primary diagnosis was injury, poisoning and certain other consequences of external causes.

The count for the hospital separations for this measure is a count of inpatient hospital episodes where the principal diagnosis was coded to \\\'injury, poisoning and certain other consequences of external causes\\\', ie S00-S99, T35-T50 in the AM Chapters of the 10th revision of the International Classification of Diseases.
